Spectrum Health Systems, Inc., a Massachusetts-based non-profit dedicated to providing evidence-based treatment for substance use and mental health disorders, has awarded $235,000 to 22 local non-profit organizations to help support ongoing work within the community, marking $485,000 in grants delivered in 2025.

“Our work is rooted in the belief that recovery and well-being are strongest when communities thrive,” said Kurt Isaacson, President and CEO of Spectrum Health Systems. “Through our Community Impact Initiative, we are proud to invest in local organizations addressing critical needs such as behavioral health, food insecurity and violence prevention. These partnerships help create stronger support networks and meaningful, lasting change for the people we serve.”

Grants have been awarded to local, non-profit organizations providing critical family and community services, including food banks and shelters. Recipients include Stars of the Future, which empowers youth and their families through sports and resources that promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing; the Safe Exit Initiative, which helps individuals safely and sustainably exit exploitation through partnerships and comprehensive legislative initiatives; and Alyssa’s Place, a peer recovery resource center offering comprehensive support for individuals in recovery.

“We’re deeply grateful for the support from Spectrum Health Systems,” said Michelle Dunn, Founder of Alyssa’s Place. “This funding allows us to expand our peer-driven programs and provide individuals with the tools, connections and encouragement they need to sustain recovery. Together, we’re building a stronger, healthier community where no one has to walk this journey alone.”

Spectrum Health Systems has awarded over $1 million in grants to 143 non-profit organizations, to date. This year, it distributed $485,000 to 56 organizations, including Follow Suit, The Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, ACE (African Community Education), Southbridge Fire, Camp Happy Place, the Lowell Youth Leadership Program, and others.
