Published On: March 30th, 2023

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc., a not-for-profit organization providing a comprehensive continuum of addiction treatment and behavioral health services throughout Massachusetts, announced today it has issued $137,000 in grants to local organizations that work to support those in recovery.

Spectrum established its Community Impact Committee in 2022, comprised of nine members, to provide financial relief to the community in which the treatment provider serves. Nominations for these grants were made directly by Spectrum staff members, then vetted and selected by the committee. Each recipient has been presented with a personalized check delivered in person by Spectrum representatives, including the staff member who nominated the organization.

“Recipients of these grants are nonprofit, community-oriented organizations with whom our employees work first-hand and fervently support,” said Kurt Isaacson, President and CEO of Spectrum Health Systems.” We are just one stop in the continuum of care and these incredible groups are critical elements in that continuum helping those in recovery stay the course and achieve their goals. I’m proud that we can offer this financial support to aid in the delivery of care for our collective clients and the achievement of our shared mission.”

Recipients include:

“Recovery is a community effort, and these admirable organizations play an impactful role in that journey,” said Jeroan Allison, MD, MS, professor at the UMass Chan Medical School and chair of Spectrum’s Community Impact Committee. “I’ve seen firsthand how impactful such organizations are in helping clients stay the course, and I’m grateful for the opportunity from Spectrum to help identify and support local organizations working to improve our community’s health.”

Spectrum’s community impact committee plans to issue an additional $163,000 in donations for a total of $300,000 in support to Massachusetts-based organizations in 2023.
