Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. held its annual meeting at the Beechwood Hotel on October 16, 2012. David Grenier, president of Cutler Capital Management, was elected as Spectrum’s Board chair, and Verilyn Mitchell, vice president for real estate planning and development at the MassDevelopment Finance Agency, was elected vice chair.

David GrenierMr. Grenier succeeds Mark Bilotta, CEO of the Colleges of Worcester Consortium. Mr. Bilotta stepped down after serving on the Board for more than five years. Mr. Bilotta was recognized for his steady, collaborative service and the countless contributions made during his term.

Hilary Jacobs, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, director of the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Abuse Services, was the featured speaker.

"Spectrum is well positioned in this new health care environment," said Director Jacobs, recognizing Spectrum's work in the past year integrating primary and behavioral health care services, focusing on improving employment options for those in recovery, and expanding into underserved regions of the Commonwealth.

Spectrum President and CEO Charles Faris spoke on the expansion and growth that the company has seen in the past year, including a new outpatient clinic in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, expansion into Florida to provide programs in correctional facilities, new corrections treatment contracts in Georgia, and the start of construction on a new outpatient clinic in Sanford, Maine.

Newly elected to Spectrum's Board of Trustees at the meeting was Dennis P. Sargent. Mr. Sargent is the assistant clerk magistrate of the Clinton District Court.   Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit substance abuse and mental health treatment provider. The organization currently treats 45,000 individuals each year through more than 125 programs in community-based settings and correctional institutions throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Georgia, Tennessee, Iowa, Maine, Florida, and Washington State.
