Earlier this month, Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. welcomed Brendan Melican as its new Public Relations Manager. Mr. Melican will serve as media liaison for New England’s leading addiction treatment provider, helping build community awareness and increasing Spectrum’s visibility. In addition to serving as the company’s media ambassador, Mr. Melican will implement a range of activities around social media marketing and fundraising.

“Members of the media regularly turn to Spectrum leadership when reporting on the growing opiate crisis, funding for addiction treatment, legislative proposals and related public policy initiatives,” stated Cindy Buraczynski, vice president of external affairs.  “Brendan’s extensive background in communications, healthcare and marketing is ideal for helping further Spectrum’s position as a recognized thought leader and prominent authority on addiction treatment.”

For the past five years, Mr. Melican served as the Special Projects Coordinator for the Massachusetts School Building Authority where he was responsible for media outreach, campaign development, and public education activities.  Previous to that, he served as Marketing Manager for Pangea Media.

Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit substance abuse and mental health treatment provider.  In addition to Massachusetts, Spectrum operates programs in Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Washington State - serving more than 48,000 adults and at-risk youth each year.

Mr. Melican may be reached at (508) 792-5400 ext. 7113 or Brendan.Melican@SpectrumHealthSystems.org.
