Spectrum Health Systems, the largest alcohol and addiction treatment provider in Massachusetts, is proud to once again be a local community leader in celebrating National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month and helping spread the message that treatment for alcohol and drug use disorders is effective and available, and that recovery is possible.

As part of its comprehensive treatment continuum of care in Massachusetts, Spectrum hosts peer recovery support centers in Marlborough and Worcester. These centers provide volunteer-driven support services for adults at varying stages of recovery, with a goal of promoting sobriety and helping individuals living in the community sustain their recovery from alcohol and other drug use. All activities and services are led and driven by "peers" - that is, individuals who have experienced addiction and recovery, either directly or as a family member or friend. Each center offers a variety of support groups, recreational activities, social events and volunteer opportunities.

Spectrum will be participating in the following Recovery Month events:

  • September 2nd-5th - Sober in the Sun - Clients and staff from Spectrum's residential treatment programs and peer recovery support centers will be volunteering and participating in this alcohol- and drug-free festival that is held every year on Labor Day weekend at the Treasure Valley Scout Reservation in Rutland. The festival features live music, camping, fireside meetings, workshops, dances, swimming and boating, recovery vendors, activities for children and teens, sports and recreation.
