To date, the Spectrum Charitable Foundation has raised nearly $1.5
million for the construction of a new Women and Childrens
Center on Spectrums 16-acre treatment campus in Westborough,
Massachusetts. Once constructed, this state-of-the-art facility
will accommodate Spectrums award-winning Women and Childrens
Program.
Participants of the Women and Childrens Program include pregnant
and post-partum women experiencing problems with alcohol and other
drugs. Children up to the age of three may live with their mothers
at the facility. The program is based on the principle that women
have the ability, given appropriate resources, to make positive
changes in their lives. By remaining with their children, women
develop healthy bonding and learn essential parenting skills, while
receiving the treatment they need.
The new facility is designed to provide a safe, supportive and welcoming
environment for twenty-six women and thirteen children. It also
shows the women and children that we respect their dignity and want
to provide them with an atmosphere that promotes recovery and reflects
the quality of our services.
Spectrum hopes to conclude the final phase of the capital campaign
this year. We invite you to help make this dream a reality, either
by renewing a past pledge or offering your support for the first
time. Consider the satisfaction in knowing your contribution helped
rebuild the lives of women with no place else to turn, enabling
them to care for their children and lead healthier, more productive
lives.
