"Spectrum taught me to be honest with myself. They told me that I didn’t have to hide behind the wall that I had built around myself because of my childhood. I use what I learned at Spectrum everyday."

Juvenile Recovery Academy

Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services, Spectrum’s Juvenile Recovery Academy is a staff secure residential treatment program for sixteen male youth in Methuen, Massachusetts.  Programming is designed to address the numerous issues that are known contributors to substance abuse and delinquency, such as family functioning, interpersonal relations, impulse control, and responses to authority.

All youth participate in a structured weekly schedule consisting of individual and family counseling, group meetings, life skills training, academic instruction and recreational activities.  Throughout treatment, emphasis is also placed on relapse prevention strategies and aftercare planning in order to facilitate successful community reintegration. In preparation for discharge, all youth develop a concrete and practical aftercare plan to ensure continued recovery and positive community living upon discharge.
