Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. was once again selected by Georgia’s Department of Corrections and Board of Pardons and Paroles to provide treatment for criminal and addictive thinking. This marks the start of Spectrum’s third decade operating correctional treatment programs in Georgia.

“The state expects a return on investment,” said Christopher Petrozzi, Senior Vice President of Correctional Services. “We are able to do that very successfully with our time-tested curricula and by producing quantifiable reductions in recidivism,” he continued.

First, Spectrum was re-awarded a $6.3 million contract to deliver residential substance abuse treatment services to 2,028 offenders at eight state facilities across the state.  These highly successful programs have received full accreditation from CARF International since 1996.

One of the goals of the Georgia Department of Corrections is to provide a continuum of care for offenders transitioning from primary treatment to independent recovery.  In support of this goal, Spectrum was also re-awarded its contract to provide substance abuse aftercare services.  This six-month program targets high risk, high needs offenders who have completed intensive substance abuse treatment.  Groups are facilitated on an outpatient basis in order to help transition offenders back into society as self-supporting, pro-social, law-abiding citizens.

In addition, the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles re-awarded Spectrum a $1.1 million contract to deliver community-based offender recovery services for 8,000 parolees each year on a statewide basis.

Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit substance abuse and mental health treatment provider serving more than 45,000 individuals each year.  Spectrum currently operates more than 125 programs in seven states, including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Tennessee, Georgia, Iowa and Washington State.
