Spectrum’s residential treatment program located at the Carroll County Long Term Treatment Facility in Sykesville, Maryland earned a three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in April. Spectrum opened the 48-bed program two years ago when it was awarded a contract by the Department of Citizen Services.

“Spectrum has strong leadership and dedicated staff members who provide a continuum of services to a broad and diverse population,” wrote the survey team following an in-depth, onsite review of the program. “The organization ensures that services are provided in a healthy and safe environment that promotes dignity and respect.”

Clients in the program follow a structured daily schedule consisting of recovery groups, individual counseling, work therapy, recreational activities and continuing care planning. The program’s length of stay ranges between six and nine months, based on individual progress. Throughout treatment, clients learn relapse prevention strategies and make concrete plans for maintaining their recovery upon completion of the program.

Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit provider of substance abuse treatment and mental health services. In addition to Maryland, Spectrum operates programs in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Georgia, Maine, Tennessee, Iowa and Washington State – serving more than 20,000 individuals each year.
